Mud Plaster
Mud Plaster for Earthy, Natural & Handcrafted Wall Finishes
Follow these professional steps to create a natural, earthy and handcrafted mud plaster wall finish.
Check the surface for cracks, dampness, weak plaster, dust, old paint failure, unevenness and oil stains. Repair all damaged areas before applying the texture.
Clean the wall using a scraper, brush, cloth or suitable cleaning method. Remove dust, loose particles, grease and contamination. The wall must be completely dry before primer application.
Apply one coat of Jaypore compatible primer or texture prep coat using a roller or brush. Allow it to dry completely before applying Mud Plaster.
Stir Jaypore Mud Plaster gently until the material becomes uniform. Do not over-dilute. Dilution should be done only as recommended by Jaypore.
Apply the first coat using a stainless-steel trowel, spatula, float, brush or roller depending on the desired finish. Spread evenly and maintain consistent thickness.
While the material is workable, create natural mud-plaster movement using a trowel, float, sponge, brush or hand-tool technique. Random movements create a more authentic handcrafted look.
For richer depth and stronger earth-plaster effect, apply a second coat after the first coat dries. This improves coverage and gives the wall a more premium appearance.
Use a clean trowel, float, sponge or brush to refine the surface. Avoid making the finish too perfect, as natural variation is part of Mud Plaster’s beauty.
For high-touch or commercial areas, apply a clear matte protective sealer. This improves cleanability and stain resistance while maintaining the natural matte appearance.
Jaypore Mud Plaster is easy to maintain when applied correctly and protected according to the usage area. Since the finish is natural and matte, gentle care is recommended.
Dust Regularly
Use a soft dry cloth, microfiber cloth or soft brush to remove dust. Regular dusting helps maintain the clean and natural appearance of the wall.
Clean Gently
For sealed surfaces, use a soft damp cloth and mild soap solution for light stains. Avoid heavy rubbing because it may affect the texture profile.
Avoid Harsh Chemicals
Do not use acids, bleach, solvents, abrasive powders or hard scrubbers. These can damage the surface and reduce finish life.
Protect from Sharp Objects
Avoid scratches from furniture edges, nails, tools, metal décor or rough accessories. Handcrafted finishes should be handled carefully.
Treat Stains Early
Clean accidental stains quickly. Long-standing stains may become difficult to remove, especially on unsealed matte finishes.
Prevent Dampness
Check the wall for leakage, seepage or moisture. Constant dampness can damage decorative coatings and must be treated immediately.
Use Sealer in High-Touch Areas
For cafés, restaurants, hotels, corridors and frequently touched walls, a protective matte sealer is recommended for better cleanability.
Use Professional Touch-Up
For scratches, dents or visible damage, professional touch-up is recommended because Mud Plaster finishes require blending to match the existing pattern.

Jaypore Mud Plaster is a decorative wall texture inspired by traditional mud, clay and earth-plastered surfaces. It creates a warm, natural and handcrafted wall finish. It is ideal for homes, cafés, resorts, villas, restaurants and feature walls.
It can be used in living rooms, bedrooms, dining areas, staircases, offices, cafés, restaurants, resorts, farmhouses and boutique interiors. With the right primer and protection, it can also be used on selected protected exterior surfaces. The wall must be clean, dry and stable before application.
Jaypore Mud Plaster can be used on selected protected exterior feature walls with the recommended primer and weather-resistant protective coating. It should not be applied on damp, leaking or unstable walls. Exterior use should always follow Jaypore’s complete coating system.
Cleanability depends on whether a protective sealer is applied. Sealed surfaces can be cleaned gently with a soft damp cloth and mild soap solution. Unsealed matte surfaces should be protected from stains and cleaned with extra care.
Usually, the system includes one primer or prep coat and one to two Mud Plaster texture coats. A protective sealer may be added for high-touch or commercial areas. The number of coats depends on wall condition, shade and desired texture depth.
Mud Plaster can be applied with a stainless-steel trowel, Venetian trowel, plastic float, spatula, brush, sponge or texture roller. Different tools create different handmade effects. Professional application is recommended for premium results.
It can reduce the visibility of minor surface unevenness because of its textured profile. However, it cannot cover major cracks, dampness, weak plaster or structural problems. Proper wall repair and surface preparation are required before application.
Indicative coverage is approx. 10–25 sq. ft. per kg per coat depending on wall porosity, thickness and application method. Heavy rustic effects may consume more material than smooth finishes. A sample patch is recommended for accurate coverage.
Popular colors include clay beige, natural mud brown, terracotta, sand, ivory, lime white, earthy brown, stone grey and charcoal. Light shades create calm interiors, while terracotta and brown shades create warm rustic spaces. Custom earth-tone shades can also be developed.
